Wenge is my favorite wood. It is beautiful, hard, resistant, exotic, hard to come by. Working with wenge wood means your hand is full of splinters, inhale dust that makes you cough, and when you blow your nose, it's black for a couple of days. The result is gorgeous and can be even polished, add some good oil and the wooden piece is there forever. I made a couple of mallets from this wood, and I will post some fine-scale model items where I am using wenge.
The mallets are made of wenge and hard maple, they have my logo inlay on their side.
